MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF KISS
Steen Allan Christensen founded KISS – Copenhagen Intensive Language School – in 1971 and celebrated his 50th anniversary as the head of the language school in 2021 and is still going strong in 2025.

"For all 50 years, we have had the shortest course duration, the highest average grades at the mandatory Danish exams, and the highest attendance rate in the country., he says. “In addition, we have 10 years of ISO-9001 quality certification and teach Danish pronunciation according to our own phonetic principles with unique results.”

On this basis, Steen Allan Christensen has been strongly critical of the content and organization of public Danish education for all these years. “When you look at the results, it's perhaps the biggest economic, labor, social, and human disaster of the last 50 years. Why? – It's a long and sad story!” In 2007, a conflict with the Copenhagen Municipality led to the termination of their cooperation, which left the school's 700 students and 50 employees out in the cold. The students protested at City Hall, and the case went to the Supreme Court, but the municipality and the attorney general won.​​
Therefore, since 2007, KISS has been a private school. The teaching system, expertise, atmosphere, and results remain the same. “But now we can only take in foreigners who can pay for themselves. KISS is thus reserved for the few – against all societal reason!” he says. However, the school has a number of foreign doctors who need high grades in Danish exams to obtain Danish authorization and need proper pronunciation in their work. Both of these requirements can be met by the teachers at KISS.

Since 1971, Steen Allan Christensen has taught at least 20 hours a week – partly because he loves teaching and partly because he is constantly developing the pronunciation teaching and teaching materials, which he has written himself. So far, he has no expiration date.

In addition, he is working on two books: "The Perfect Violin" about the old masters' systems and "The Perfect Brain" about the system he believes is a prerequisite for our senses to function. As he says, “There is much more system in things than one might think. This also applies to Danish pronunciation!”
