KISS IS THE BEST SCHOOL - WHY?

KISS has always had the shortest course program, the highest grade average at the official exams (PD3 and Studieprøven) and the highest attendance rate – out of the about 50 language schools (sprogcentre) in Denmark.​

Students – as well as teachers – always know exactly what is expected of them. Exercises and tests are always done in the same way and in the same order.

Students’ progress is monitored closely, also by oral and written test at eachmeeting. Students will be asked to repeat a level if they fall behind.​

always far (2-3 grades) above the country average - despite our program of only
9 months (day classes) and 12 months (evening classes).

KISS HAS THE BEST METHOD - WHY?
The KISS method is based on the concept of habit – a crucial factor when learning Danish. We want to install correct language habits right from the beginning. Wrong pronunciation habits can be very difficult to change later.

We teach the rhythmical patterns as the fundamental element of Danish sentences. Danish is an extremely rhythmical language, and rhythm, meaning, and glottal stops in a sentence are interconnected in a systemic way.

You will learn sentences by heart (memorize them) for each meeting - with the right rhythm and the right glottal stops.

We provide sound files with word lists and sentences for your homework.

Our teaching materials are developed especially for the KISS method and only used at KISS.

Intensive courses: Why does the course have to be so intensive? - Because a good Danish must be learned quickly, before you start acquiring wrong language habits. And if you do not learn a good Danish, people will prefer to speak English to you. As you may have noticed: Danes love to speak English!
KISS IS THE BEST AT DANISH PRONUNCIATION – WHY?
We have a unique approach to pronunciation with our own models, descriptions and techniques developed at KISS.

​Danish pronunciation is very difficult to pick up by ear. If you repeat what you hear, it usually comes out wrong no matter how hard you listened.

We give students a clear understanding of the nature and function of vowels and consonants as well as of the Danish “glottal stop”.

We teach the fluently and naturally pronounced Danish (the quickest Danish) right from the beginning, dropping ending and sometimes whole words. When you have learned how to do this yourself, you can also understand when Danes speak quickly.

In our unique approach to Danish pronunciation there is system and consistency. We teach this right from the first day as part of the KISS method.

We teach the connection between spelling and pronunciation so that the spelling becomes a help and not an extra difficulty.

Danish pronunciation is not difficult with our kind of instruction. Almost all KISS students will be able to say “rødgrød med fløde” perfectly after a few weeks.
